Trains - Georgetown Loop
The Georgetown Loop Railroad (GBL) operates excursion trains on about 5 miles of narrow gauge trackage from Georgetown to Silver Plume, CO. Built in 1877 to serve mines west of Denver, the line was rebuilt in the 1970's for tourist excursions. They have 5 steam locomotives, including an operational Shay and #40 shown below, and 2 diesel units.  The locomotives below were removed from the property in 2004, when the owner, Colorado Historical Society, changed operations vendors.  The loco's were at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, CO, in  April 2006.
