Minneapolis & St. Louis Railway (MStL)
No. 457 at Mason City, IA, 5/9/15, was built in 1913. The MStL existed
from 1870 to 1960 when it was aquired by CNW. Ironically, the MStL never
went to St Louis, but rather Peoria, IL; they were "The Peoria Gateway".
No. 457 ended its service life at American Crystal Sugar Company in Mason
City in the 1950's and is 1 of 2 surviving steam locomotive of the MStL.
This locomotive was a featured story in TRAINS,
May 2016

Minneapolis & St. Louis Railway (MStL)
No. 471 at Janesville, MN, was built in 1910. #471 worked for the MStL
into the 1940's when it was sold to a brick company in Chaska, MN.
In the 1960's it was aquired by a private owner where it fell into disrepair.
Some time in the 2010's it was salvaged by a Janesville owner and put on display
in this 11/07/18 photo.
