Track plan drawn by Cody Hilliard
On March 6, 2010 the members voted on adding a 24' x 29' space to the club. The new space along with the current space will house a new layout. The members are currently in the design phase of the new layout. This page will be updated with the new versions of the plan as we make them. Please check back often to see the updates.
Stage 1 of Construction (scroll below to stage 3 to view full layout)
- Upper deck of North room built only during this stage
- Mainline run is 195'
- This stage is double tracked so we can run the same amount of trains as we do now
- Reverse loop so we can have continuous running from this stage onwards
- Optional temporary staging yard could be built around reverse loop
- Several of the modules from the old layout used in this stage.
- Use portable layout in other room to run trains while constructing stage 1
ASMR Layout Design Criteria
Required
- 29' x 67' room with a section in the middle for a meeting room
- 36” Minimum Radius
- 1.6% maximum grade
- 48” for most aisles
- Staging yards at both ends
- Built in Stages to allow running of trains from stage 1 and beyond
- Use as much of the old layout as possible
Desirable
- Better scenic potential
- Continuous Run Connection
- Represent the Texas & Pacific (UP) mainline between Roscoe and DFW
- Walk along with train
- Double decked to increase mainline run
- No helix to move between levels on the mainline
- Build as much of the layout in 8ft modules as possibe so we can move if needed
- Long runs between towns
