The SJ, or Swedish State Railways, has been more influential to Amtrak than any other European railroad. Our AEM-7 electric is derived from SJ's successful Rc series, and was designed by ASEA, the Swedish version of General Electric. More recently, an ASEA-Brown Boveri X2000 trainset toured the United States as Amtrak was testing it for possible use on the Northeast Corridor. Some of its design features, such as tilting carbodies, were incorporated into the Acela. |
