A Visit To Hoover Dam
Fall Amtrak Vacation Trip 2007:
A Visit To Hoover Dam

My Sister and I took a drive out to visit Hoover Dam. Hoover Dam was built over a 4 year period from 1931 to 1935. It's located 30 miles Southeast of Las Vegas and is used as a huge hydroelectric power plant providing electric power to several areas of the Southwest. Lake Mead comes to an end at the dam. Lake Mead is the largest man-made lake in the United States. Its water is used by Nevada and California. Based on these photos, it appears the level of Lake Mead was way down from normal levels. These photos were taken when we arrived there.

I wonder what it costs to launch a boat here?

After visiting here, we headed back for Vegas.
