This car was originally built by Budd in 1946 for the Pennsylvania Railroad as a 62 seat coach and numbered 4055. The car was later operated by Penn Central (same number) and conveyed to Amtrak in 1971 and numbered 5434. Amtrak retired the car in April 1983 and the car was eventually sold to Eagle Canyon Tours who operated it until 1990. VIA eventually acquired and rebuilt the car into an HEP-1 Coach and numbered it 8142. Historical information about this car provided by and
