The Exhibition Of Amtrak History - Car #1451

The second of the two Material Handling Cars (I'll refer to this one as the "red car" since it has a red label outside the door) that make up the Exhibition Of Amtrak History consist of displays covering Amtrak's 40th Anniversary, along with its Great Dome car and more. Also occupying about half of the car is an excellent O Scale Lionel toy train layout that was built by a company called "Trains Across America". So this will be the second of two train layouts you'll easily be able to see here in Silver Rails Country (the first being the NEMO Model Railroad Club that you saw earlier). Included here are photos of what was on display in this car during my visit. Enjoy...

An Amtrak National Train Day banner with an HO Scale model train consisting of an F40PH, a Material Handling Car and 3 Amfleet I Coaches.

Amtrak through the years as depicted in these posters starting from the 1970's through today.

Uniforms from the Amtrak Trails & Rails program that it runs with the National Park Service. No, there are no photo tricks here, my camera is reflected
in the glass just because of the interior lighting.

Amtrak's 40th Anniversary edition of National Train Day is depicted in this banner from the 2011 event.

Amtrak celebrated its 40th Anniversary in 2011 and as part of the celebration, painted 4 P42DC locomotives in previous paint schemes and eventually
painted one unit to honor our nation's Veterans. In this display, there are several photos of these specially painted locomotives along with information
about National Train Day and Amtrak's Great Dome.

Normally I would not show close-ups of other photos but I'm gonna break my own rule here because this particular photo is very near and dear to me
because well, it's mine!!! I took this photo in 2011 at Buffalo-Depew Station of P42DC #156 in Phase I for Amtrak's 40th Anniversary and my thanks
goes to Bob Cox at APRHF for displaying it here!

LEFT: Photos and information on Amtrak's Great Dome which is the only dome car left on Amtrak. The car is used for special occasions during different
times of the year. Amtrak also sells a special Walthers HO Scale model of this very car (I have one on my desk at home). RIGHT: Amtrak hats from
various functions including a conductor, red cap, as well as a hard hat. Also included is a lanyard and a can of compressed air that with the proper
attachment would act as a hand-held train horn!

Now let's check out an excellent O Scale toy train layout. Here we have a Nickel Plate Road steamer on display with some "wild life" roaming around!
A Sunoco Oil Refinery sits behind the steamer.

Sunoco, the official fuel of NASCAR!

Ted's Tires sits at the end of a street with an Amtrak train hiding in the background!

Nice little farm with lots of cows!

The Circus Train is in town! Passing by Plasticville School and a John Deere tractor dealership!

John Deere has a tractor for all your farming needs, and you thought they just made lawn mowers!!!

An overhead view of the back of the layout taken with a drone (OK, not a drone but the angle looks like it could be!). It looks like a wedding at the
local church today and that water tower with the happy face on it is cool!

OK, a little proof I was here never bothered anybody! Here I am, my reflection in the window of the door on one of the cars! I hope you enjoyed
this look inside this fine showcase of Amtrak history. Now it's time to check out a great vineyard in Silver Rails Country, right behind where this
whole thing is located!
