The Exhibition Of Amtrak History - Car #1429

The first of the two Material Handling Cars that make up the Exhibition Of Amtrak History consist of display cases covering just about every Amtrak route both past and present, along with books and artifacts about Amtrak. The car also features Amtrak-related posters, calendars, etc. The car also has some photos from Chris Guenzler's millionth mile traveled on Amtrak. Included on this page is a complete set of photos taken in this car which I'll refer to as the "blue car" since it has a blue label next to the door when you walk in. Enjoy your tour of all things Amtrak!!!

As soon as you walk into this car, you'll see a sign depicting the original name picked for Amtrak, "Railpax"! Also included are maps, calendars, some
Cafe Car menus and a scale model of an Amtrak "California Car" whose prototype is used on Amtrak California's "Capital Corridor" Service.

Some Cafe Car menus and Amtrak banners. The original "Chevron" logo, also known in the railfan community as the "pointless arrow"
is still very much in use today even though it was "replaced" with the updated "Tracks" logo over 15 years ago!

The filing cabinets feature lots of Amtrak books and historical artifacts. Remember when Amtrak passengers were referred to as "guests"? Also included
here is a sample of a Amfleet II Cafe Car table and seat setting from when those cars were converted to Smoking Lounges on one end and all tables on
the other end of the car. It was created by the Chicago shop forces and the prototype car was named "Chicago Club".
