Built by Budd in 1948 as a Dome Sleeper for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad for the C&O's new train "The Chessie" which ended up never operating. The C&O assigned the number 1850 to this car. The car was then transferred to the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and numbered 7600. The car was sold to the Seaboard Coast Line in 1969 and renumbered 6800 still keeping the same name. Conveyed to Amtrak in 1971 and renumbered 9200. Amtrak retired the car in November 1977. the Promontory Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society purchased the car in 2008 and the car has since been purchased by Birch Grove Inc. The dome can seat 20 guests for dining and there's a bar-lounge on the lower level. The Moonlight Dome has 3 large doubel bedrooms with single beds that fold down from the wall and a private toilet room in each bedroom. There is also a master bedroom with a double bed and a shower.
