This photo captures F9PH #7184 in her second career,
hauling commuters for Maryland Dept. of Transportation (MDOT)
during the early 1980s. This unit began life as B&O F7 #4472
in 1948 and was rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen in 1980. Another
overhaul 10 years later changed her paint scheme from MDOT to
MARC colors and her number from MDOT #7184 to MARC #84. MARC has
retired her from service. Notice the RDC in MDOT colors in the
background of this Washington Union Station scene.
