Poppenga Yard and transition modules
David Toschak designed and built the club-owned 3-module yard with some assistance by other club members. It is based on three modules started by the late member Bert Poppenga that he intended to be solely a large passenger depot and related tracks. The club decided to revise that design to minimize the depot and passenger tracks in order to include a basic freight yard and locomotive facilities. Some dual gauge trackage was added at the west end.
At the left, the Oil Corner has both standard gauge mainlines as well as dual/narrow gauge trackage leading to the turntable and beyond on the westmost yard module.
Three 6' modules comprise the yard. At the right, the Team Track corner includes tracks leading in.
This view is centered on the east yard module. Part of the middle module is at the left and part of the Team Track module is at the right.
