With the decrease in cost of white LEDs they are now the perfect choice for lighting on model railroads. They combine ease of use with cold operation, low power consumption, and a very long life. Their low power consumption makes it possible to power them from the smallest of wires which can be hidden in the structure of the model. These easy to model light posts are an easy to build example that any modeler should be able to build for less than $1 each.
