28th Annual WNYRHS Greater Buffalo
Train & Toy Show 2009 Review

The 28th Annual Greater Buffalo Train & Toy Show held over the weekend of November 21st and 22nd, 2009 was our largest one ever held at the Agri-Center at The Fairgrounds in Hamburg, New York. Over 450 tables were rented and we needed two buildings to hold all of them! The weather was decent weather both days and we had no Buffalo Bills game to compete against!

We placed 12 dealers in the back room of the AgriCenter and a newly constructed all weather hallway connected that room to the "Expo Building which held another 20 vendors. With the economy down, our attendance was down about 18% over last year but most dealers had no complaints about sales. In addition, we had many new dealers and layouts.

The Society had many railroad layouts for the public to admire. The Niagara Orleans Model Railroad Engineers had room for both their "N" gauge and “HO” layouts, WNY Garden Railway Society “G” and the WNY Model Engineers “O” gauge had a lot of admirers. Small dealer layouts such as the Rock Springs Station and Aurora Rails displays also drew a lot of attention from the crowd.

In addition, the Niagara Frontier Live Steamers had great displays with an expanded show of stationary steam engines that people of all ages enjoyed. Niagara Hobby’s Thomas Play area in the Expo Building provided plenty of room for the little kids to spread out and have fun! The "Fun City" Amusement Train had excited passengers all day. We would also like to thank Niagara Hobby & Craft Mart for their generous donations of door prizes.
