27th Annual WNYRHS Greater Buffalo
Train & Toy Show 2008 Review
| The 27th Annual Greater Buffalo Train & Toy Show held over the weekend of November 22nd and 23rd, 2008 was a huge success at the Agri-Center at The Fairgrounds in Hamburg, New York. Mother Nature cooperated and we has decent weather both days. Too cold and windy to work outdoors but perfect for going to a Train Show! We actually ran out of space to put all our dealers in the main room with over 435 tables set up Friday afternoon. Even a back room used for storage had dealers and a CPR Speeder in it! Attendance was way up with over 5600 family and friends coming through the doors. I worked the entrance for three hours and have never stamped so many people leaving with arms full of stuff and returning for more! In addition, we had many new dealers and Monk’s Bread was present again on Saturday and they gave away free loafs of their delicious bread to all those in attendance. The Society had several railroad layouts for the public to admire. The Niagara Orleans Model Railroad Engineers only had room for their “HO” layout, WNY Garden Railway Society “G” and the WNY Model Engineers “O” gauge had a lot of admirers. Small dealer layouts such as the Rock Springs Station and Aurora Rails displays also drew a lot of attention from the crowd. In addition, the Niagara Frontier Live Steamers had great displays that people of all ages enjoyed. Madd Matt’s NASCAR Racing and Niagara Hobby’s Thomas Play area provided fun for the little kids. We would like to also thank Niagara Hobby & Craft Mart for their generous donations of door prizes. If you were not able to attend this fall's show, please plan ahead for our 18th Annual Winter Show in February 2009.
