Riding Y0981 on 1-8-98

Here is an interesting look at the Y0981. These pictures were taken 1-8-98 during a snow storm. It was very good for pictures, but I am sure the RR crews/MOW workers did not like it very much! Our power was a GP40, but I didn't write down the number. I want to say it was 3005, but don't quote me. Pictures may not be used without permission.

Here we are looking back at the tie up track in Waukesha. We are just starting our day.

Eastbound WC freight going over Arcadian Ave. in Waukesha.

This is Payne & Dolan. To the left is 100 track and 41 track. To the right are the P&D tracks.

This is Thiensville Lumber, I think.

We are at Duplainville about to head eastward. The snow was so bad that our conductor had to climb up the signal and brush it off so we could see the light!

A scenic picture of the east end of Waukesha siding.

Now on the west end of Waukesha. An eastbound blasts by us.

This was a common scene all day. We actually had a MOW crewman come along with us to help sweep switches. I would have helped but I doubt the FRA would have approved!

There goes the WSOR JS (Janesville-Slinger). Notice the icicle hanging down from our light.

Looking westward at Dupy diamond as an eastbound CP train rolls by. That first loco was a HELM leasing.

Now at the west end of Sussex. The crane was here because just the week before they finished the Sussex siding extension.

Westbound UP train on the Adams line.

Ex-ACR 6001 heads this westbound through Sussex.

I think this is 6641. He is also fairly new on the property.

We are on the Quad track in Sussex. The crane and gon are on the siding.

This ends our little trip back a few years. It got too dark to take any more pictures.
