Call time was for 06:30, but we didn't get on the loco until
08:00, due to some confusion as to what job we were going to take. First
we were going to be XY0981, but because of loco trouble, we were back on
L201. We then had to take a cab up to Spur 105. Our power for the day was
SD45 #7585.
CSX 6065, CSX 3135 - UPFD - Spur 105 - 08:44
After this train went by, we were able to enter the main.
This is the new Hwy 59 bridge that is being constructed over
the tracks on the west side of Waukesha. Now, westbound trains will be able
to pull all the way up to Sunset Ave.
CSX 7887, WC ???? - westbound - Lake Villa - 11:00
This was an eastbound METRA (going left) that went over the
diamond before we could do our work. They went by us at 11:55.
We are now on out way back to the Dairyland. We passed a potash
train that was dead in the siding at Lake Villa. We pulled in behind this
train to let the previous CSX-WC powered train go by us.
CN 2586, CN 2401, CN 2581 - potash train - Lake Villa - 12:25
A closer shot.
Here we are sitting in the siding at Silver Lake. We were
waiting for an ore load to go by.
CSX 8119, SOO 772, CP 760 - Ore Loads - Silver Lake - 13:00
To our surprise, there was a SOO and a CP unit helping pull
this train. I think the CP is one of those SOO bandits everyone is talking
about. I can't remember if it was or not. I was worried about getting my
shot and then getting out of the way so I wouldn't be pelted with iron ore!
Only one got me.
Another shot of us before we proceeded west. We departed at
13:05.
