Amtrak Thruway Buses:
San Joaquins: Three round-trips daily
connecting with northbound and southbound San Joaquin trains in Bakersfield for
points in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys, the Sierra Nevadas, northern
California, and the Washoe Valley region of northern Nevada as well as the
Redwood Empire, Tri-Valley, Silicon Valley, and San Francisco Bay Area.
Pacific Surfliner:
Southbound: Five daily trains to Los
Angeles and San Diego, three trains now serve additional stations in northern
and central San Diego County.
All southbound trips now have service to
the Old Town Station, located four miles north of downtown San Diego.
NOTE: Southbound Trains 790 and 1790
operate with older Amfleet and Horizon cars every other day. Passengers
boarding this train should be aware that on days when Amfleet is operated, they
must find a door with a uniformed conductor present as ALL DOORS do NOT open
and doors must me manually operated and trapdoors must be opened to expose the
stepwell for boarding and detraining.
Similarly, northbound trains 761 and 1761
are also operated with the older cars every other day. Passengers boarding this
train with bicycles must meet the conductor at the baggage car and aid and
assist the conductor in loading and unloading thrir bicycle.
Passengers boarding this train needing
assistance using the wayside lift should arrive at the station SIXTY minutes
early, in order to purchase their ticket and safely board the train.
Northbound: Two round-trips daily to San
Luis Obispo and three additional round-trips operating as far as GOLETA only.
Most trips offer thruway bus service to points in Northern Santa Barbara, San
Luis Obispo, and Monterey Counties, connecting with other Amtrak and Commuter
services in San Jose and Emeryville and also connecting with the San Francisco
Rail Network (MUNI) at the Ferry Building in downtown San Francisco.
