(for names except those beginning with "Silver", see separate list
Contrary to popular belief, the "Silver" name prefix was not unique to "California Zephyr" cars. Naming conventions were as follows:
Western Pacific - all cars were for the CZ and all had "Silver" names.
Rio Grande - Originally purchased cars were all for the CZ and had "Silver" names. Additional cars obtained from the C&O were for the "Royal Gorge", and were unnamed.
Burlington - All "Zephyr" cars had "Silver" names, including "Denver", "Kansas City", and "Twin Cities" cars, as well as the two "home builts" which were assigned general pool service. The only unnamed domes were those in "pool" service with Great Northern and Northern Pacific.
