KCS purchased domes from the defunct Auto Train operation for use in a possible "Southern Belle" revival for the 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans - nothing came of it.
Other cars in the proposed train were the KC RR Museum ex Rock Island E6, #20 (baggage), #23 ex ATSF "Regal Dome", #24 ex ATSF "Regal Isle", and KC RR Museum "Hospitality" observation. The Auto Train domes were sold to UPRR and currently operate in their business fleet.
In December 2005 KCS purchased the RailCruiseAmerica train, including their 2 ex UP domes for 'Southern Belle" business train use.
