I snagged an 0-4-2 Porter off Ebay for
motive power, a boxcar, a gon/flat and a caboose for rolling stock, they
just arrived yesterday. I had heard that the Porter had a tendancy
to stall on turnouts with plastic frogs such as ATLAS, but this one crawls
even on some ancient Tyco switches that I used .
Began working on a series of hoppers
based on my 7/8 scale 20 series. I started with a set of HO logcars
I had leftover so that there was enough weight and the coupler pockets
and the truck mounts are already molded in place. After the first
three I'll have to build my own frames and figure out coupler pockets and
truck mounts.
Hooked up an ARISTO TE to the On30
layout and it works awsome. Small scale RC is really neat.
Got some EZ Mate couplers for the hoppers I'm building plus some styrene
to build a flat car or two.
