Finally back to work on the railroad. Last week pulled weeds
and serviced the turnouts in the Port Lavender yard, basically got everything
servicable again. Tried to install the interchange track, but section
was roo rotted to support a locomotive. On Friday I went to Lowes
and picked up a cedar board to rip into ties. Since I'm planning
to lay a new wye and loop I'm gonna take a shot at laying the new track
on PT 2x6.
Got a problem with the turntable pit, during heavy rians on Friday it
floated out of its hole after being tamped and leveled. Dunno what
I'm gonna do about this. Perhaps the weight of the TT bridge will
hold it down, or perhaps i will have to spike through the bottom of the
pit with some largish nails.
Yesterday I laid a new section for the interchange track and dropped
it in the dirt. Its leveled but still needs to be tested and ballasted
in. Need to set some goals and priorities amongst the projects right
now. The TT and enginehouse have languished far too long, so I think
I need to make that a priority this week. One door, a wall, and the
roof are all that's left to do. Then paint and assorted trim work.
Make that my evening project for the week as well as the TT bridge and
approach tracks.

Beleive that I'm going to concentrate on getting the engine terminal
serviceable this week. Means getting the turntable finished finally
and the engine house too. Perhaps I'll get it ready to paint at least,
and lay the tracks for inside it.
