Scale Model Passenger Train

There were several scale model locomotives and trains in Plexiglas display cases on the lower level of the Cincinnati History Museum. The model in this display case is a Norfolk & Western 2-6-6-4 "O" scale locomotive with a passenger consist that was nicely detailed.

Steam Model

This locomotive is a live steam scale model. Since it has been three years since I took these photos, I may have forgotten some of the details. However, I think this is a 4-8-4 Northern type locomotive and it was fueled by either alcohol or kerosene.

Crosley Automobile

My father's best friend had a Crosley station wagon and he gave us a ride in it one time. I don't know whether Crosley offered the car in other colors but, my father's friend's car was about the same color as this one on display. Crosley automobiles had one main problem and that was they were about twenty years ahead of their time. If they had been introduced in the 1970's instead of the 1950's when gas prices started to soar they might have caught on. In the '50s bigger was better and the more horsepower the better. The average car owner could care less about a car that got 30+ miles per gallon since gasoline was less than 30 cents per gallon.

I have covered in these Cincinnati History Museum pages almost everything that would be of interest to a rail fan or model railroader. There were many more displays and items of interest but because of the unplanned excitement I ran out of digital media and time.
