Canrailpass
A Canrailpass provides access to the VIA Rail system throughout Canada, giving seven one-way trips in Economy class within a 21-day period. A trip is defined as a continuous journey between two stations regardless of the duration. In most cases one free stopover is allowed per trip. For example, travelling from Toronto to Vancouver with a stopover at Jasper would count as one trip used. If you wish to make more than one stopover, the trip is broken at the point where the longest stopover takes place. Tickets must be obtained before boarding, and valid photo identification shown if requested by VIA personnel. The number of seats available to Canrailpass holders is limited and bookings must be made at least three days in advance of travel date.
Tickets booked using a pass may be cancelled at any time prior to the scheduled departure of the train, and the credit for the trip will be returned to the Canrailpass for future use within its validity period. Credits are not granted for tickets cancelled after the scheduled departure of the train. Passes are available both inside and outside Canada but are not valid for other Canadian railways. Senior citizens (those aged 60 or more), students with an ISIC card and anyone aged up to 25 may qualify for senior/youth rates. The following prices (in Canadian dollars) currently apply, high season being from 1 June to mid October.
Adult Canrail Pass $588 (low season), $941 (high season)
Youth/senior $529 (low season), $847 (high season)
