#18

#18 proves just what Ten Wheelers can do, as the engine heads up a ten car passenger train. The success of this locomotive, and #17 (nee #1), prompted management to upgrade motive power to a large stable of Ten Wheelers in the early 1900's.

With the arrival of her younger, bigger sisters, #18 has been relegated to duty on the "Hunter Shuttle" that plodded the three miles between Hunter and Kaaterskill Junction. Summer of 1912.
