A Stock DR.jpg (43692 bytes)

The A Stock consisted of two multiple unit test trains built prior to the District Railway's main electrification programme and first used on the Ealing and South Harrow Railway in 1903.   There were two 7-car trains built by Brush of Loughborough to designs imported from the USA and which were based on trains used on the Chicago Elevated lines.

This stock was arranged for right hand driving, although the main order and almost all subsequent trains built for the Underground had left hand driving.  One train was equipped by Brisih Westinghouse, the other by British Thompson-Houston.  This is the BTH train.
