Trolley Postcards: Eureka, CA

Humboldt county courthouse, with a nice view of one of the small "California" cars which provided Eureka's streetcar service (although modified quite a bit over the years) for almost 40 years.

Another view of the same type of car. Cars with enclosed central sections and open end sections like this one were named California cars because of their suitability for the climate of most parts of the state. They must have turned out to be a bit chilly in Eureka, since in later years they were enclosed.
