As evening approaches, it's time to shuffle equipment in Green Mountain's Bellows Falls yard for the night photo session. Claremont & Concord 44-Tonner No.30 is pressed into service as "yard goat," leading Amtrak F40PH 226 and Providence & Worcester B23-7 2215 onto the classic stone arch bridge between Bellows Falls and North Walpole, New Hampshire.

Early evening is also when the northbound Vermonter shows up. Amtrak F40PH 291 leads the train past a small swamp full of purple flowers just south of Charlestown, New Hampshire.

One of the highlights of Rockingham Old Home Days is the massive fireworks display, which just happens to go off directly over the Green Mountain's yard in Bellows Falls. Under the rockets' red glare we find Rutland RS1 405, Connecticut DOT's New Haven F7AM 6690 and Green Mountain GP40 302.

The fireworks last for nearly 30 minutes, so it is possible to get multiple angles of the lineup of locomotives in th yard during the display.

Following the fireworks, a more traditional night photo session takes place. First up is Rutland RS1 405 with a vintage passenger train and Mark Player's Railway Express Agency trucks at the Bellows Falls depot.

The evening (and our trip) concludes with Green Mountain GP9 803 and Vermont Railway GP18 801 posed on a covered hopper train at the Bellows Falls team track. All in all, we've spent 36 hours in the Bellows Falls area and found that this is still one great railroad town.
