I used several different sizes of Woodland Scenics Talus. I poured the different sizes in a cup and mixed them up. I then poured the talus onto the diorama where I wanted it. Some of the bigger pieces were placed by hand. I then poured a mixture of white glue and water with a few drops of dish detergent over the talus with an eye dropper. I allowed the glue to dry overnight. I checked the talus and in areas where it had not stuck I had to go over it with pure white glue. I then colored the talus the same way I colored the rock castings.
