The Arizona & California RR (formerly owned by the Park Sierra Rail Group) is now part of RailAmerica, Inc. It is based in Parker, Arizona and runs from Cadiz, California, where it connects with the BNSF, to Parker, Arizona (shops and offices) and on to west of Wickenburg, Arizona, where it again connects with the BNSF. The railroad also includes a line which runs from Rice, California to Ripley, California. The best place I know of to get reliable shots of the railroad's motive power is in Parker. The best view of the yard is from the West so morning pictures are hard to get unless something is moving in or out of the yard. I checked out Blythe and Ripley dozens of times while passing through to Los Angeles before I caught anything (for example, the picture above taken at Ripley). I have also followed the line from Parker to Wickenburg a half dozen times with no success so far. I have primarily taken pictures of the ACR when convenient so I haven't concentrated on obtaining schedules or "chasing" trains. |
