In September, 2002, we paid a quick
visit to the National Railway Museum in York, England, our second over
the past 25 years. It was between trains and we didn't have a lot of
time, but we were able to see most of the museum (an easy walk from the
main station). Here's a set of images which will give our viewers an
opportunity to see some of its treasures, almost all of which are in
perfect running order and are often rolled out, that trace the history
of railroading in the UK. When we were there the museum had special
status as an educational institution and in order to attract school
children was free of charge. Of course, these photos just skim the
surface. For further information please go to the
museum website. The
British love their railways, and there is no better testiment to that
than this fabulous facility. Click on each image to enlarge.
