Worth Valley (UK)
Officially the Keighley and Worth Valley
Railway, the Worth Valley is one of Britain's premier independent
tourist railways. Northwest of Leeds in the gorgeous West Yorkshire
countryside and easily accessible from the national rail network at
Keighley (my friend Bill Marsden and I began our outing taking a train
from Skipton), it features stream trains, interesting diesel rail cars,
dining cars in the summer, and at Ingrow West, access to the Museum of
Rail Travel, some photos of
which are included here. The day I visited in May 2005 the trains were
packed and the bar car did a splendid business. There will never be
real ale on American trains....
