Canadian Pacific Railway Telegraph School

The Canadian Pacific Railway is announcing the opening of a school for telegraphy, stenography,
and typewriting in Montreal. The students, who may attend, will be employees of the CPR. It had been
decided that in all positions pertaining to railway operation, men with a knowledge of telegraphy
will be favoured. Three teachers, one for each of the named departments, will have complete charge
of the classes, which meet two to three times each week. To ensure steady attendance, the CPR has decided
to charge each pupil two dollars a month for a term of six months. Students, who the teacher feels is
not yet competent to undertake work after the half year term, may remain longer. If a pupil attends
80 per cent of the classes during such a period as outlined, the money will be refunded at the completion
of the course. Many pupils are now attending such classes.
