Article Thirty-Eight
"New Telegraph Lightning Arrester Invented"
Announced 13 March 1899

Mr Frank A Cote, of the noted firm Cote & Coursolles of
Ottawa, Ontario, has invented a new lightning arrester. This
new invention will protect the valuable telegraphic
equipment from instant destruction by lightning and will
also protect the growing network of telephone lines and
generally, electrical systems everywhere.

The invention was tested recently in the presence of the
experts from the Bell Telephone Company of Canada. The
tests proved to be highly successful, the arrester halting
the strongest currents without concern. The contrivance
is very simple and one of its features will be the reduced
cost of manufacturing.
