Alexandra Park was built by the Traction Line in 1906 for use for public functions. According to the London Advertiser from July 14, 1906, the name was selected from about 200 suggestions. Miss Madeline Simson of 514 Waterloo Street in London was the first of 17 people to suggest this name. Picnics, weddings and other functions were held at the park, which was located just south of Lambeth to the east of Highway 4 where Greenhills Golf and Country Club currently stands.
