This little stop is about 30 miles from Phoenix, and about half that from Casa Grande. Maricopa is miles from anything, and the Sunset stops here in the middle of the night in both directions, if the UP does its normal dispatching duties. Your webmaster visited this station in May, 2008, to find a small double wide portable office with a ticket office, baggage room, and a small waiting room. The parking lot is ample and clean. It is a very nice set up, and offers all the amenities that any Amtrak station has, on the days it is open. If you are boarding here, be sure to check with Amtrak to see when the Sunset will arrive. If you are deboarding here, be sure you have a way of getting to your final destination. You won't find public transportation, car rentals, or much of anything else at the scheduled arrival time.
