July is not usually one of my more productive months for photography, and I didn't have
many July photos scanned... but I managed to dig up this shot from Dallas in July 1992.
It's July 26, 1992, and a pair of Santa Fe geeps (GP60 # 4000 and GP20 3017) idle
side-by-side near Santa Fe Dallas yard tower. Less than two years after this photo was
taken, Santa Fe completely exited the city of Dallas when it opened its new yard north of
Fort Worth at Alliance. Visit the above location today (it's located just south of
Interstate 30 near Fair Park), and the picture is much
different... the old Santa Fe yard is now the maintenance and servicing facility for DART
(Dallas Area
Rapid Transit) light rail trains.
