This is one of my favorite photographs of El Paso. This view taken from the
Paisano Dr. overpass just west of El Paso Union Depot captures a sense of
the city's diverse and dynamic rail activity, and also offers a glimpse into
Mexico. In the foreground, a BNSF switch crew on board a dash-9 locomotive
shoves in the clear to allow a southbound BNSF local to enter El Paso yard.
In the background to the right, a westbound UP stack train passes on the
"Sunset Route". Structures in the distant background and hillsides to
the left of the frame are located in Mexico. Photographed March, 2002.
