Ken Fitzgerald was up early on Sesquicentennial Sunday; his first train of the day was a UP eastbound on the Baird Subdivision at Tecific -- five miles east of Sweetwater -- at 6:40 a.m. To the left are the tracks of the BNSF Slaton Subdivision, which run parallel to the UP for just over a mile at Tecific.
