Texas Railroad Sesquicentennial -
UP Special to Stafford

On July 3, 2003, the city of Stafford arranged for the Union Pacific to operate a special train as an early tribute to the Sesquicentennial anniversary of rail service in the community.

The train operated over the original 20-mile opening segment of the old Buffalo Bayou, Brazos & Colorado from the Harrisburg area of Houston to Stafford, and is shown here at Harrisburg where invited guests in UP business car Arden got their only glimpse of Buffalo Bayou--better known today as the globally vital Houston Ship Channel.
