| Texas Railroad Sesquicentennial - Special Events |

On July 3, 2003, Union Pacific operated a special passenger train in the Houston area to
help the city of Stafford get an early start at recognizing the upcoming Sesquicentennial
anniversary of rail service to the community. Below are two photos of the passenger special
taken by Jimmy Barlow as it operated from Manchester to Stafford.

For several months during 2003, a traveling exhibit -- built to resemble a BBB&C boxcar -- helped to
commemorate the Texas Railroad Sesquicentennial anniversary by visiting various railroad museums
and towns throughout the state of Texas. Mr. Ken Stavinoha of the
Rosenberg Railroad Museum in Rosenberg, TX
described the exhibit:
"This is the traveling exhibit that started out in Rosenberg for our
festival back in March, which kicked off the TX RR Sesquicentennial
year. It then went to New Braunfels in April, for their festival, and
spent the month of May at the Gulf Coast Chapter, NRHS in Houston. It was
at Stafford for their July 4th and TX RR celebration, and in August, was at
Burnet for the ASTA Rail Fair. It is currently on display at the Temple RR
Museum during September, and will be in Flatonia sometime in October for
their Czhilispiel event.
"There are 6
information panels with black and white photos, and color images of such
things as an 1855 BBB&C Stock Certificate, and an 1861 BBB&C letter
responding to the complaint of a rancher regarding the lack of compensation
for a bull killed by a BBB&C train."
Mr. Stavinoha contributed the following photos, taken of the traveling exhibit during its stop in Stafford during the
Fourth of July weekend.
