Port Jervis Timetable
Port Jervis Turntable
I really enjoyed your web site! Rail enthusiasts who visit Port Jervis, NY, where I
live, can see the recently renovated turntable on the former Erie yards property, as well
as the renovated Depot that houses a railroad museum. The Depot and adjoining REA building
has been restored to as it looked when it housed the offices for the Erie RR. The
turntable recently saw use to turn a restored locomotive on several excursion trips on the
former mainline...what a site to see for someone who loves railroads!

I also noted that this was written up in Trains January issue. Ross
Rowland's C&O 614 ran excursion trips between Hoboken and Port Jervis over the ex-EL
for New Jersey Transit. The article indicated that the steam loco hit 79 MPH on the trip.
The motor on the turntable was not operational so they had to use a bulldozer to turn the
locomotive.
