The staging yard contains 4 double ended long  tracks (approx 15 feet each). Two Winnipeg tracks are pointing east. Two Sault-Ste-Marie tracks are pointing westward.  Tracks are long enough to hold two trains each, When full, eight trains altogether can be stored under the layout.

Or they can keep spare room for an arrival/departure. With only six trains, one track can be assigned to be a departure track. Trains reach the layout level by way of two 30" radius helixes at each end of the staging yard under each of the peninsulas.

The fifth and outside track is part of the folded dog bone mainline. Trains can go through without stopping.
