Southern California Traction Club

The club added another new member in 2005, John McWhirter of Ladera Heights, CA. His addition sparked a renewed effort to add details to all of the modules and illumination to several of the buildings. In April 2006, Jan Podganski of Hawthorne, CA rejoined the club. Jan had been a member from 1997 to 2001. The club made seven appearances during 2005, and in 2006, appeared at the Sacramento Great Train Expo in January; and the South Bay Botanic Garden in April. The club is currently scheduled to appear at the Los Angeles Arboretum in November and the Del Mar Great Train Expo in December. The club is exploring the possibility of appearances in local shopping malls through its membership in the Association of Modular Model Railroad Operators (AAMRO).

The club has been taking advantage of the lack of good train shows over the last few years to improve the details of the modules. Some of the modules are over ten years old and have been in continuous use. One of the views noted by the public is the nun crossing the street with her students.

One module added in recent years featured Rush Limbaugh High School, home of the Rushin' Rhinos while another module, initally constructed in 1974, featured trolley coaches using a powered overhead wire for the illumination of headlights.
