In June 2005 we took a family vacation to the Grand Canyon. We arrived at Williams Arizona and spent the night at the Grand Canyon Hotel. The next morning we were treated to a shootout between the Cataract Creek Gang and the Marshall. We then boarded the train for about a 2 hour ride to the canyon. The Grand Canyon railroad has 3 steam engines and several diesels. The steam engines lead the way with diesels used as extra pulling power.

Once we arrived at the Grand Canyon State Park, we were given a bus tour of the canyon. Later that evening, we boarded another bus for a breath taking sunset tour of the canyon. The rest of the time was spent exploring and shopping. Late the next afternoon we boarded the train again for the trip back to Williams. This was a great vacation I will never forget.

Visit the Grand Canyon Railway website or call 1.800.THETRAIN for details on booking a trip.
