Bob Foster demonstrates the use of a Unimat lathe to
"tune-up" a Flyer motor. |
Bob Foster, Sr. is known in the club as a die-hard Flyer fanatic. Bob's motto
is "if all the wheels are touchin' - it's runnin' too slow". Bob uses
a lathe to true up the motor commutator and balance the motor to squeeze every last
ounce of power from a flyer motor. Bob also developed a unique method of building a Flyer super-motor
(wide armature) by using parts from non-pullmor motors. It involves expert use
of the lathe - and lots of time. Bob eagerly shares his how-to with club
members.
