Above and to the left.� Views of elegant GRS side of mast mounting bracket.� These often break when old signals are taken down (i.e crash to the ground), which makes them somewhat difficult to obtain.� To mount the signal on the smaller four inch diameter pipe, I installed a galvanized pipe fitting in front of each nut as a spacer. |

Above.� On GRS searchlight signals, the lens visor is attached to the lens retaining ring with several nuts and bolts.� Once attached, the lens retaining ring and visor can be attached to the front of the housing as a unit to secure the outer lens.� Because the lens retaining ring is relatively thin cast iron, it is subject to cracking like the one shown above, especially when stress is applied to the visor.� On the US&S searchlight signals, the visor is bolted around the flange on the front of the housing which holds the outer doublet.� The US&S steel lens retaining ring then fits under the visor to secure the outer doublet. |
