CLF locomotive is the the freight descendant of CL locomotive. It is the Australianized version of EMD F45 locomotive.
Of 17 CL built, 8 of them become CLF locomotive (whose are geared for freight duty) while the rest were modified into CLP locomotive which have passenger loco gearing, although later modified for freight duty.
