An Overview of the Rails of Southeast Missouri and Beyond
Today from the Mo-Ark Regional Railroad Museum in Poplar Bluff, MO I took home this this Old Missouri Pacific D Head Signal that I plan to turn into a dwarf signal. It was appearantly originally mast mounted. It is manufactured by General Railway Signal Co. Rochester N.Y. U.S.A. I plan to use it with a Yellow Over Red Arrangement. After I get new bulb sockets, bulbs, and possibly repaint it, I will display it outdoors on a wooden base.
The signal was in two parts in our UP Baggage Car. They were buried at opposite ends of the car under two seperate piles of crossing signals (which by the way are for sale). As I was cleaning up I noticed they were no ordinary crossing signal and were actually lineside signals, so I tossed them in the truck. I found out later that night that they were involved in a small freight train derailment in town in 1986 under the WW Highway Bridge and that their mast was destroyed and UP donated them, so that's how we ended up with them.
In the truck with a strap run through their hatches.
After installing a red lens in the bottom given to me by Joe Falvey.
From the front with both hatches open.
Safe and sound in my garage after a little Simple Green on the lenses and around the hoods.
Having a little fun, I got a lamp from the living room and displayed the yellow aspect.
And now, the red aspect.
Closeup of the amber lens. Yes, the outside lens is crooked, but Mo-Pac did that, not me.
