"Makin' Trax" is currently a home-based, labor-of-love... a "back-yard business" if you will, based on my favorite hobby - Model Railroading.  I have been in this hobby most of my life, and would like nothing more than to share the fun and enjoyment that I have found in this hobby with others.  So I have decided to do so by forming this business to help other get exposed to and started in the hobby.  I do ask a small fee for my services, but my sincerest intention is to share this hobby with others, and hopefully give kids a better alternative to get hooked on instead of drugs.

Although I do build layouts in other scales, my primary focus is HO scale (1/87), mainly because there is just so much more availible in HO scale than there is in other scales.  I currently offer about 30 different, HO scale layout designs ranging from large, room-sized layouts to table-top sized layouts, but I'm more than willing to construct layouts based on someone else's design.  Additionally, I offer a special-design service to tailor-fit a layout to meet specific, individual needs.  A minimal charge of $10 is generally charged for this service.

All of my designs shown on my web site are free for downloading, but I can also build these layouts for interested customers.  Before I begin construction on small layouts, I request that a down-payment be made to cover the full amount of all materials that are needed for the construction of smaller layouts.  On larger layouts, I will accept incremental payments based on the stages of construction.  The materials for the layout can be purchased through me at discounts of up to 30% off retail prices, and I do not mark up the price of the materials for a profit.  The ONLY thing I charge for is my labor, which is based on active-construction time at a rate of $15 per hour.  Construction costs are added to the material cost upon completion of the layout to determine the total charge.  If applicable, delivery charges will be added upon delivery.  Payment must be made in the form of cash, check or money order.  Sorry, but I cannot accept credit card payments.

Upon delivery, if you are not completely satisfied with the layout, I offer a 100% money-back guarantee on the materials used to build the layout, but I cannot refund construction cost as I cannot recover that expense.  Refunds are issued ONLY upon return of the layout to me.  Your decision to keep or return the layout must be made within seven days of receiving your layout.

I offer a limited, 6 month, FREE parts and labor guarantee on faulty materials and construction defects.  Travel charges will be applied for on-site repairs based on a .50 cent per mile rate to the site (one-way).  I also offer a modification service for previously built layouts if you'd like to have your layout upgraded in any way.  I charge $10 per hour plus material costs for this service, and travel charges will apply if done on-site.

I will personally deliver layouts to locations within a 1500 mile radius of my home in north Bryan County, GA (near Savannah).

To locations outside of my range, shipment will be handled by freight truck or private courier (where possible).  ALL Shipping and crating charges will added to your final total.

You may also opt to pick up your layout at my home to avoid all shipping charges and hassles.
