  • May - A meeting is held at the Court House in Schoharie Village for the purpose of considering the construction of a railroad from the village to intersect with the Albany & Susquehanna Railroad. Jacob Vroman was "called to the Chair" and S.L. Mayham chosen Secretary. The Hon. Charles Goodyear, member of congress, addressed the group showing the importance of the project to the people. Plans were made to meet again on the third day of June for the purpose of completing the organization of a Railroad Company. A committee was appointed to solicit subscribtions of stock.   • June 3 - A meeting was held at the Court House for the purpose of organizing a company to construct a railroad from Schoharie to connect at some point with the A&S Railroad near Central Bridge. Written consent had been obtained of 341 voters and taxpayers of the town to take $30,000 stock in the railroad. Also more than 341 names were obtained to appropriate the $20,000 State Bounty Bonds, belonging to the town, toward the construction of the railroad. A committee of five was appointed to nominate 13 directors in compliance with the State Law governing railroads. Among those elected to the Board of Directors were D.B. Couch, Jacob Vroman, Charles Goodyear, Orson Root, Franklin Krum, Stephen L. Mayham, Frederick Baare, Jonas Kilmer, and George C. Rickard. The directors then elected Jacob Vroman as President, Charles Goodyear as Treasurer, and Stephen L. Mayham as Secretary.(Source: Hagan)

  • June - The Editor of the Schoharie Republican writes - "In our advertising columns will be found the notice of the Directors of this Company for sealed proposals for the contract to grade their road. This looks like business and it is to be hoped that nothing  will now impede the immediate consumation of the project. Five percent of the subscribed stock has been collected, the Articles of Association filed with the Secretary of State and the committees arranged to supervise the details of the work."
    • Notice to Contractors:
      Sealed proposals will be received by the undersigned until the 2nd day of September next for the grading, building, masonry, etc., of the SChoharie Valley Railroad. The profile plans, specifications of the work will be ready for inspection at the Engineers Office on and after the 20th day of August next. Signed, Peter Hogan, Chief Engineer.

  • November 16 - Progress of the SVRR. The grading of this road under the immediate energetic supervision of C. P. Rensman, is rapidly progressing. The entire road with the exception of two small cuts, will be completed by the 25th day of December to Foxes Creek, ready for the laying down of the rails. Should the work be pushed forward the rails can be laid by the first of January. One hundred and thirteen men and twenty-seven teams are now employed. (Source: Hagan)

  • March - A new depot is now in the progress of construction at the junction. This will avoid the necessity of of running trains on the Susquehanna track. (Source: Hagan)

  • May - Trains on the Middleburgh & Schohaire and the Schoharie Valley now stop at the Junction. All danger of a collision is now done away with. (Soure: Hagan)
